ndroid is open source and Google releases the code under the Apache License. This open source code and permissive licensing allows the software to be freely modified and distributed by device manufacturers, wireless carriers and enthusiast developers. Additionally, Android has a large community of developers writing applications ("apps") that extend the functionality of devices, written primarily in a customized version of the Java programming language. In October 2012, there were approximately 700,000 apps available for Android, and the estimated number of applications downloaded from Google Play, Android's primary app store, was 25 billion.

We all know that now the Android OS is the very popular OS in the world. A report on US is saying that android is sold 75% and other OS are sold as only 25%. Means where no one can touch to iOS now they are buying Android OS. So there is something a reason that Android can get in cheap price and also in big price and 90% of android devices comes with many features with Capacitive touch screen. Many companies are selling Android Devices like Samsung , Sony , Htc , Micromax , karbonn etc. Android has been programmed in C, C++, Java. It supports multi-languages. Now, Android is owned by Google.
When android launched There is a market for apps which named Android Market is now upgraded to Play Store.Android is also comes in Tablets.
